Everton, despite having already secured four new signings this summer, continue to seek further reinforcements before the transfer window closes.
However, manager Sean Dyche recently hinted that the club might have concluded its business as the Premier League season is about to begin. Among Everton’s recent additions, Jake O’Brien has particularly stood out, scoring on his debut against Preston North End. Despite these positive developments, Everton’s squad still has areas needing improvement, especially in the striker department.
In a disappointing turn for the club, Everton has missed out on securing Kalvin Phillips, who opted to join Ipswich Town instead. This setback follows the sale of Amadou Onana to Aston Villa for around £50 million, which left Everton searching for a new midfielder.
The club had shown interest in Napoli’s Jens Cajuste, valued at around £10 million. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Cajuste is now heading to Ipswich on an initial loan deal with an option to make the transfer permanent under certain conditions.
With the departure of Onana, Everton is now facing a significant gap in their midfield, which they hope Tim Iroegbunam, a recent arrival from Aston Villa, can help fill. Iroegbunam has impressed during the pre-season, earning a spot in the squad.
However, with the transfer window closing soon, any injuries in midfield could leave Everton exposed if they fail to secure another addition before the deadline.
