Nottingham Forest have their sights set on a new signing from Arsenal, potentially addressing their ongoing goalkeeping issues.
After previously acquiring Matt Turner from Arsenal, Forest is now eyeing Aaron Ramsdale.
Turner’s stint at Forest hasn’t been successful, as he lost his first-team spot to Matz Sels early this year and has struggled to regain it. Sels, too, faces criticism, prompting Forest to consider Ramsdale as a solution.
Ramsdale, currently second choice at Arsenal, has spent much time on the bench and is unlikely to break into the first team soon. This scenario mirrors Turner’s experience, suggesting Ramsdale might also benefit from a move to the Midlands.
Reports indicate that Forest and newly-promoted Southampton are interested in Ramsdale, but the £30 million price tag could be a sticking point.
Arsenal is also planning for Ramsdale’s potential departure, having already made bids for Wolves’ deputy keeper, Daniel Bentley.
If Bentley joins, it could hasten Ramsdale’s exit. For Forest, securing Ramsdale would be crucial, as they conceded a significant number of goals last season. Improving their defense is vital to avoid another relegation battle.
Ramsdale’s move could benefit all parties: Arsenal clears a spot, Ramsdale gets a fresh start, and Forest gains a reliable goalkeeper. However, negotiations on the price will be key to finalizing the deal.
