Chelsea dedicated and energetic midfielder, Conor Gallagher (24) has continued to impress and improve week-in, week-out yet there’s still uncertainty about his future with the club as contract talks are stalling from the management side.

The England international home grown Chelsea player has been making transfer headlines since the new owners took over the club with multiple reports suggesting they are willing to cash in on the player.

Chelsea coach, Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of the midfielder, making him one of the most consistent player in his team this season. However, the decisions concerning his contract and club future is beyond the coach .

Speaking after Monday night London derby triumph against Crystal palace at Selhurst park where Ghallagher, again proved his worth by scoring a brace to help Chelsea to a 1 – 3 win away from home, Pochettino responded to questions about the player future. He stated that:

“Gallagher told me he wants to stay at Chelsea. Other than that, it’s for him and the club to discuss”.

“We like him. I’m so happy for him and so happy for the team because it’s a victory we needed. Then about his contract, it’s up to Conor and the club”.

His contract is due to expire at the end  2024/2025 season and is obviously an issue that needs to be addressed soon. New reports suggest, the management major concern is the wage structure.

Gallagher is believed to be earning £70k per week with his current contract at Chelsea and a new contract will see his earnings rise to over £150K per week above the wage benchmark set by the new owners which they have only breached in the case of Reece James.
