Update issued by Mikel Arteta ahead of Luton clash .
Following their commendable 0-0 draw against Manchester City, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the condition of his squad, highlighting the return of Gabriel Martinelli as a significant development.
In the past, Arsenal has often missed crucial opportunities to contend for titles, especially in the latter stages of the season.
However, their resilient performance against the reigning champions suggests a shift in mentality, with the team refusing to succumb to City’s dominance.
This result not only maintains their second position in the Premier League but also enhances their chances of challenging for the title by preventing City from overtaking them.
Injury boost.
Looking ahead to upcoming fixtures against Luton and Brighton, Arteta emphasizes the importance of having a fully fit squad.
He reassures fans by confirming that Bukayo Saka is available despite being substituted in the previous match.
Of particular note is the return of Gabriel Martinelli, who is set to feature against Luton following a foot injury.
Arteta acknowledges the significance of squad depth in title contention and expresses confidence in his players, including newcomers such as Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, and David Raya, who joined the club during the summer transfer window.
Jurrien Timber’s update
Addressing concerns about Timber’s absence due to a knee injury since the start of the season, Arteta provides a positive update on the player’s status, hinting at his imminent return to action.
He added: “We have discussed that. And being able to contribute in any possible way. We’re going to need everybody there. That’s certainly something really important. They need to feel it. The best way to do that is to play minutes. We have to show that in training, be close to them and then keep doing it to earn the right to play.
“He [Timber] is doing very well. He’s back training. He’s not far off. The thing is that last step. We’re going to have to feel it now. I would say he’s got a good chance [of playing before the end of the season].”
This news bodes well for Arsenal as they aim to maintain momentum and competitiveness in their pursuit of silverware.
As Arsenal continues to navigate through a demanding season, Arteta’s focus on squad rotation and nurturing talent underscores the team’s determination to challenge for top honors in the Premier League.
