In a critical display of resilience, Emile Smith Rowe emerged as a key figure for Arsenal in their clash against Luton, spotlighting a pivotal moment in his challenging season.
The midfielder, with only three league starts so far, was instrumental in Arsenal’s offensive success during the first half, contributing to both goals.
He initiated a counterattack that Martin Odegaard finished, and his sharp cutback led to an own goal by Daiki Hashioka, showcasing his significant impact.
Despite appearing fatigued as the game went on, Smith Rowe’s participation for 85 minutes marked his longest Premier League appearance in two years, demonstrating his dedication and capability to endure.

Smith Rowe’s Post match interview.
“It inspires me a lot and I’m sure the other players,” Smith Rowe told Arsenal.com after the 2-0 win.
“It’s been a really tough season for me and some of the other players haven’t played as much as we’d have liked to.
“It’s important that we came in tonight and put in a performance and show the manager that we can be a part of this team.
“All season, the boys are ready to step in and put in a performance and I think it just shows how tight we are as a team – it’s like a family.
“We’re really happy that players can come in and still perform. That’s what it’s about, the strength in depth is really good.”
“I got really tired at the end to be fair! Obviously, I haven’t played a lot and I think that shows. I’m really happy with my performance and minutes tonight so let’s see what’s next.”
During the post-game press conference, manager Arteta expressed appreciation for smith Rowe.
“I love him as a player,” said the manager. “It’s a joy to watch him, how he moves, how he changes direction, how physical he was today as well without the ball.
“He won a lot of duels and he was thinking with that killer instinct to play forward and to make things happen and when Emile is in that moment it’s very difficult to stop him. Today he helped us a lot to win the game.”
Today, Arsenal will focus on recuperation before shifting their focus to Saturday’s match against Brighton.
With no room for mistakes in the title race, Arteta might rely on additional players at the Amex, considering Arsenal will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
