Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel has reached an agreement with the club to step aside at the end of the current season due to poor run of form worsen by the last three consecutive defeats which has placed the club in a tight spot with prospect of ending the season without a trophy for the first time in 12 years.
The club confirmed the decision after the meeting between Thomas Tuchel and Bayern Munich chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen.
“In a good, open discussion, we came to the decision to end our working relationship by mutual agreement in the summer,” Dreesen said in a club statement.
” Our goal is to pursue a new footballing direction with a new head coach for the 2024-25 season.”
Thomas Tuchel’s contract was due to elapse at the end of 2024-2025 season after joining Bayern in March last year as replacement for Julian Nagelsmann who’s reign failed to impress the club hierarchy.
“Tuchel said in a statement after the news broke out that ” I will of course continue to everything I have to do with my coaching staff to achieve maximum success until I leave. ”
Bayern Munich next game is at home to RB Leipzig admist the current injury woes which has plague the team. The team’s defeat against Lazio in the champions league then Bayer Leverkusen and recently mid-table side Bochum has left them hanging 8 points below league leaders Bayer Leverkusen with 12 games remaining and facing elimination threat in the champions league round of 16.
