New Liverpool boss Arne Slot wants to replace Darwin Nunez with Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.

Liverpool is set for significant changes under new manager Arne Slot, who plans to offload the club’s record signing, Darwin Nunez, and replace him with Aston Villa’s prolific striker Ollie Watkins.

The Reds are reportedly preparing a £90 million bid for Watkins, who scored 27 goals last season, as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Arne Slot, chosen to replace Jurgen Klopp, aims to make a strong impression in his first summer transfer window. Klopp, a beloved figure at Anfield, ended his nearly nine-year tenure with a 2-0 victory over Wolves on May 19.

Slot, known for his tactical similarities and management style akin to Klopp, hopes to ensure a smooth transition.

Arne Slot plans reshuffle Ahead of his first season in charge.

Liverpool’s CEO of football, Michael Edwards, believes Slot can seamlessly continue the club’s success. However, the Dutchman’s arrival signals inevitable squad changes.

The departures of Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip, who were out of contract, have already been confirmed.

Despite some players being retained, Nunez, who had a challenging season, might be on his way out. The Uruguayan striker, who cost Liverpool up to £85 million, faced criticism for his lack of goals, ending the season without scoring in his last ten appearances. Nunez has been linked with a move to Barcelona and has removed Liverpool from his social media profiles.

Slot’s priority target is Ollie Watkins, valued at £90 million, following a stellar season at Aston Villa. Watkins, whose goals helped Villa qualify for the Champions League, signed a contract extension until 2028, but Liverpool is determined to secure his services.

Liverpool is expected to fund the Watkins move by selling Nunez. The club hopes Watkins will provide a versatile and consistent attacking threat, enhancing their chances of success in the Premier League and European competitions.

Arne Slot Wants Nunez Out.

New deal talks will be held with Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk to extend their stays beyond 2025, seen as a major priority this summer.

Additionally, the new Reds boss wants to tie down promising youngster Conor Bradley with fresh terms, despite his current arrangement running until summer 2027.

Slot aims to sign a better all-round No. 9 to lead Liverpool’s attack, and Watkins fits the bill perfectly. Villa will fight to retain their star striker, but financial fair play regulations may force them to consider Liverpool’s sizeable bid.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Watkins has also earned approval from club icon Robbie Fowler, who believes Watkins or Newcastle’s Alexander Isak would be ideal additions to the squad.
