West Ham United is gearing up for a significant squad revamp this summer, targeting six new signings to strengthen their team ahead of the next Premier League season.

According to senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, new manager Julen Lopetegui is leading this ambitious recruitment drive as he looks to rebuild the squad after taking over from David Moyes.

Julen Lopetegui summer transfer priorities.

Top priorities for West Ham include acquiring two new center-backs, a right-back, a central midfielder, a winger, and a striker.

This comprehensive approach is driven by the team’s need to improve its defense, which conceded 74 goals in the last season, highlighting the necessity for a defensive overhaul.

Among the defensive targets, West Ham has already made strides by agreeing to personal terms with Fabricio Bruno.

The pursuit of additional defensive reinforcements underscores Lopetegui’s commitment to solidifying a backline that struggled significantly throughout the previous campaign.

In midfield, the Hammers are seeking to bolster their options amid uncertainties surrounding current players. Edson Alvarez, Thomas Soucek, and James Ward-Prowse were regular starters, while Lucas Paqueta frequently alternated between midfield and wing roles.

The club’s search for a new midfielder aims to provide more stability and depth, particularly with Paqueta’s future at the club in question. Consequently, adding a winger is also on Lopetegui’s agenda.

Up front, West Ham is keen to inject youth and scoring prowess into their attack. With Michail Antonio and Danny Ings being the only established strikers, the club is targeting a younger, more prolific forward to enhance their offensive capabilities.

The Hammers have already been scouting potential candidates and have secured an agreement with goalkeeper Wes Foderingham as part of their early business.

Additionally, West Ham is reportedly preparing a £40 million bid for Max Kilman, indicating their intent to act swiftly and decisively in the transfer market.

As Lopetegui seeks to make his mark, West Ham’s extensive list of targets highlights a summer of significant change at the London Stadium.
