Olympique de Marseille rejects Everton bid for Iliman Ndiaye

Everton’s bid to secure the services of Iliman Ndiaye has hit a snag as Marseille rejected their initial, according to Massilia Zone.

Despite the setback, Ndiaye has expressed his willingness to join the Toffees, though personal terms are yet to be agreed upon.

Roberto De Zerbi, Marseille’s new head coach and former Brighton manager, will have the final say on Ndiaye’s potential transfer.

The Senegalese midfielder, who previously impressed at Sheffield United, is highly regarded for his skills on the pitch, with teammate Tommy Doyle once calling him an “unbelievable player” (BBC Sport, March 2023).

Everton’s pursuit of Ndiaye comes at a time of renewed optimism at Goodison Park. Following a period of turmoil, recent developments have injected fresh hope into the club’s future.

According to Sky Sports News (June 20), Farhad Moshiri and Dan Friedkin have entered an exclusivity agreement, paving the way for the Friedkin Group to complete a takeover.

This move is expected to help alleviate some of the club’s debts and kickstart a rebuilding phase.

The imminent takeover appears to be influencing Everton’s transfer strategies positively. The club is now focusing on strengthening its squad rather than offloading players.

Fabrizio Romano reported (June 20) that Everton has agreed on a £9 million fee with Aston Villa for Tim Iroegbunam. Adding Ndiaye to the mix would further bolster Everton’s midfield options, signaling a promising turnaround for the club.

In another transfer move, Everton has also made an offer for a Leicester City midfielder, indicating the club’s proactive approach in the transfer market this summer.
