Despite past tensions, Joshua Kimmich has emphasized that he harbors no ill feelings towards Bayern Munich’s management.

The club’s star midfielder addressed rumors and speculations about his future and relationship with the club’s officials, stressing that misunderstandings have been resolved through open communication.

Kimmich has had his share of disagreements with Bayern’s hierarchy over the years. Notably, during the 2020/21 season, he faced criticism for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine, which led to a lung infection and missed matches. Additionally, he had a public disagreement with an assistant coach after being substituted at halftime during a Bundesliga match against VfL Bochum this season.

In the 2019/20 season, Kimmich’s remarks about the team needing to improve after a narrow win over SC Paderborn were met with prompt rebuttal from the club’s front office, who insisted that he should lead by example.

Such incidents have contributed to Bayern’s nickname “FC Hollywood,” reflecting the club’s history of high-profile internal conflicts.

Despite these issues, Kimmich remains committed to the club. In a recent interview, he addressed how he continues to identify with Bayern Munich, stating:

“We are all adults. There are new people in charge now, and any misunderstandings can always be cleared up in a personal conversation. That’s why I’m relatively open about that. I don’t think I need to symbolically show my identification with the club. The people and the club’s officials see that every day – and that’s what matters.”

With Vincent Kompany set to become his seventh manager at Bayern, following a series of high-profile coaches including Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti, Kimmich is facing another period of transition.

The club also saw significant changes in its leadership with the departure of Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic at the end of the 2022/23 season, paving the way for a new era under Christoph Freund, Jan-Christian Dreesen, and Max Eberl.

Kimmich’s current contract runs through June 2025, and while rumors about a potential move have circulated, Bayern is keen to secure his commitment for the long term.

As he manages his career without an official agent, Kimmich’s decisions post-EURO 2024 will be crucial. Bayern Munich aims to convince him to extend his stay and continue contributing to the club’s success.

Kimmich’s clear stance on resolving past issues and his ongoing dedication to the team underscore his importance to Bayern Munich, both on and off the pitch.
