While most teenagers were enjoying their summer break, 15-year-old Miles Russell prepared for his PGA Tour debut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club.

Feeling some initial nerves, Russell teed off on Thursday, shooting a 74 (2-over par) in his first round on the prestigious tour.

After his round, Russell faced the media, handling their questions with poise. However, some of the questions raised eyebrows among golf fans.

One reporter pointed out that his PGA Tour app profile was missing height and weight details, prompting the question: “What is your current height and weight?” This was followed by an even more personal query about his waist size.

Fans quickly took to social media, expressing their discomfort. Comments like “This is genuinely weird” and “What a bizarre set of questions” flooded in, reflecting the sentiment that these questions were inappropriate for a young athlete making his debut.

Despite the odd inquiries, Russell showed resilience by bouncing back with a solid 2-under-par 70 on Friday. Unfortunately, he missed the cut by just three strokes, narrowly falling short of advancing to the weekend rounds. His performance, though, suggests that he has a promising future ahead in professional golf.

Meanwhile, Aaron Rai and Akshay Bhatia co-lead the Rocket Mortgage Classic at 17-under, heading into the final round on Sunday. It likely won’t be long before Russell gets another chance on the PGA Tour, and many are excited to see how he progresses.

Russell’s debut was impressive, but the focus shifted to the intrusive questions he faced, sparking a debate on the boundaries of personal inquiries in sports.
