Nottingham Forest faces potential upheaval this summer as head coach Nuno Espirito Santo looks to revamp the squad.

Amidst a busy transfer period, Newcastle United has expressed interest in acquiring Forest’s star player Anthony Elanga.

This week has already seen significant moves for Forest. Elliot Anderson joined from Newcastle, while goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos moved in the opposite direction to the Magpies. Additionally, Forest announced the permanent transfer of Brandon Aguilera to Rio Ave, a somewhat unexpected development.

However, the transfer activity might not be over for Forest. Reports from The Athletic indicate that Newcastle’s head coach Eddie Howe is keen on signing Elanga as part of his efforts to strengthen the team’s right wing.

Elanga, who joined Forest from Manchester United for £15 million, had an impressive debut season in the Premier League, scoring five goals and providing nine assists under managers Steve Cooper and Nuno Espirito Santo.

Despite Newcastle’s interest, Forest holds a strong position regarding Elanga’s future. The club has complied with Premier League profitability and sustainability rules, avoiding the threat of a points deduction. Consequently, Forest is under no immediate pressure to sell its key players unless a significant offer is made.

Elanga himself appears content at Forest, where he enjoys regular first-team football and has flourished under Nuno’s management. Newcastle, having recently sold Anderson to Forest to meet their own financial regulations, may struggle to afford Elanga without significant financial maneuvering.

Newcastle’s pursuit of Elanga will depend on their willingness to meet Forest’s valuation and whether they can navigate their financial constraints.
