After participating in two LIV Golf events, John Catlin has shifted his focus to securing a permanent spot in next year’s LIV Golf League.
The American golfer, who previously won three times on the DP World Tour, impressed in his alternate roles at the LIV Golf League, finishing T24 in Houston and T7 in Nashville, standing in for the injured Charles Howell III. These performances have earned him $745,000.
Catlin is set to play for Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC team at the upcoming LIV Andalucia event at Valderrama.
This week, however, he is competing in the International Series Morocco, with his sights firmly set on climbing to the top of the International Series Rankings. This achievement would secure him an automatic spot in the lucrative LIV Golf League for next season.

Earlier in the season, Catlin won the International Series Macau title in a playoff against David Puig, where he made history by becoming the first player to shoot a 59 on the Asian Tour. He followed this victory with another win at the Saudi Open, bringing his total Asian Tour titles to six and propelling him to the top of the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit. Despite these successes, Catlin currently sits second in the International Series standings, behind Carlos Ortiz.
Catlin is determined to maintain his impressive form to secure his place in the LIV Golf League. He expressed his commitment to this goal, emphasizing the high stakes and the appeal of the LIV Golf events.
“The International Series is definitely priority one for me now,” said Catlin. “Having experienced the LIV Golf events, they are really cool. We are very well looked after and playing that calibre of field for that kind of money is something we all want. That is priority one and I am looking for what will unfold over the next eight events.”
In Morocco, Catlin faces competition from Branden Grace, a South African golfer looking to regain his form after narrowly missing out on Open qualifying.
Grace, who has finished second and ninth in the last two LIV Golf seasons, is currently in the drop zone and needs to perform well in the remaining events to secure his spot in the tour. Despite his recent struggles, Grace is optimistic about his chances, using the International Series as a stepping stone to prepare for the upcoming LIV Golf Valderrama event and to gain valuable world ranking points.
