Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-gyu is on the verge of leaving the Scottish champions due to dissatisfaction with his limited playtime under manager Brendan Rodgers.

The 23-year-old, who joined Celtic from Suwon Samsung Bluewings in January 2023, has played only 725 minutes across 26 matches, which he considers insufficient.

On June 20, Het Laatste Nieuws reported that KRC Genk had made an offer for Oh, but it was initially rejected by Celtic. However, the Belgian side persisted in their pursuit, and on Friday, journalist Sacha Tavolieri indicated that a deal was imminent.

This was corroborated by Saturday’s edition of Het Belang van Limburg, which stated that Genk had finally made a breakthrough in negotiations with Celtic.

Oh Hyeon-gyu is reportedly eager to leave Glasgow for Genk, expressing dissatisfaction with his life in Scotland and seeking more playing time. He is currently in Belgium to complete the transfer formalities, including a medical examination.

This move underscores the striker’s desire for more opportunities on the field, which he feels were lacking at Celtic under Rodgers’ management. As he prepares to join Genk, fans and analysts will be watching closely to see how this transfer impacts both his career and Celtic’s strategy moving forward.
