The Boston Celtics are making moves to solidify their status as an NBA powerhouse by signing Ron Harper Jr., son of former Chicago Bulls star Ron Harper.
According to Jared Weiss of The Athletic, Harper Jr. has been signed to an Exhibit 10 deal, which includes a one-year, veteran’s minimum contract.
Ron Harper Jr., a 24-year-old small forward, has shown promise during his time with Boston’s Summer League team this offseason. His father, Ron Harper, was a crucial member of the Bulls team that won three consecutive championships from 1996 to 1998 and later secured two more titles with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2000 and 2001.
Harper Jr. went undrafted in 2022 after a solid four-year college career at Rutgers. He spent the last two seasons on two-way contracts with the Toronto Raptors, but his tenure was cut short by a season-ending shoulder injury in December 2023. Now on the mend, Harper Jr. is set to join the Celtics, who are defending their NBA title amid a dynamic offseason.
This signing reflects Boston’s strategy to draw inspiration from successful dynasties of the past as they build their own legacy.
