West Ham has expressed interest in signing Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer, sources reveal.
The Hammers, seeking to bolster their attacking lineup, have identified Calvert-Lewin as a prime target.
The 27-year-old forward, whose current contract with Everton ends in summer 2025, has not yet agreed to a new deal with the club. This contract uncertainty has caught the attention of several clubs, including Newcastle United, who are also vying for his signature.
Newcastle’s initial negotiations with Everton broke down earlier this month, but they are preparing a new bid contingent on offloading Callum Wilson.
Since joining Everton from Sheffield United in 2016 for £1.5 million, Calvert-Lewin has made 247 appearances and scored 68 goals. However, his recent performance has been inconsistent, with seven goals in 32 league matches last season and only two goals in 17 appearances the previous season. His career at Everton has also been marred by injuries, causing him to miss 97 games over eight years.
West Ham’s new manager, Julen Lopetegui, is keen to reinforce the squad following David Moyes’ departure. The club has already secured significant signings, including Max Kilman from Wolves and Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras.
As Everton faces interest from multiple clubs, they may look to finalize a deal for Calvert-Lewin before his contract expiration next year to avoid losing him for free.
