Since the New York Jets’ acquisition of Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers prior to the 2023 NFL season, speculation has been rife about Davante Adams joining his former teammate.

Adams and Rodgers, who played together for the Packers from 2014 to 2021, had a highly successful partnership. However, Adams is currently under contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, having been traded from the Packers in 2022.

Despite Adams being with the Raiders, the possibility of him reuniting with Rodgers remains a popular topic, fueled by the Raiders’ ongoing struggles, particularly at the quarterback position. Rodgers’ known desire to play with Adams again adds to the speculation.

On a recent episode of ESPN’s “Get Up,” former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky stated his belief that a trade involving Adams to the Jets is a “done deal.”

Orlovsky referenced Adams’ frustration with the Raiders, as documented in a Netflix series, suggesting that Adams would prefer to join Rodgers in New York, unless he feels an obligation to stay with Raiders’ new head coach Antonio Pierce.

Adding to the chatter, Hall of Fame receiver Randy Moss voiced on the “Up and Adams” podcast that Adams should pursue a championship opportunity with Rodgers. Furthermore, a video surfaced of Rodgers expressing his eagerness to play with Adams again, while former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason predicted a trade could occur by early September.

Despite the rumors, both the Raiders and Adams have publicly dismissed the notion of a trade. Adams’ agents issued a statement labeling the trade talk as baseless, asserting that Adams is expected to remain with the Raiders. Additionally, financial constraints pose a challenge for the Jets, who cannot currently afford Adams’ contract.

Looking ahead, Adams could potentially become a cap casualty for the Raiders next season. If Rodgers performs well and returns to the Jets in 2025, a reunion with Adams might become feasible. For now, though, Jets fans are advised not to anticipate an imminent trade for the star wide receiver.
