Chelsea have reinitiated discussions with Nottingham Forest regarding the acquisition of center-back Murillo, as per journalist Gianluigi Longari.
The Blues are actively reinforcing their squad, having already added six new players this summer. Their aim is to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.
Despite the new additions, Chelsea is still in the market for a winger, striker, and goalkeeper. However, further signings are expected to be postponed until after their pre-season tour in America, which begins Monday.
Chelsea recently secured Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham and Renato Veiga, fitting their desired left-footed defender profile. Nevertheless, they remain open to signing another center-back, contingent on player departures. Trevoh Chalobah is seen as a potential exit.
Murillo, a Brazilian defender, joined Nottingham Forest last summer from Corinthians and has quickly proven himself, aiding Forest’s survival for a second season. Chelsea’s interest in Murillo was reported earlier this summer, though they hesitated to meet his £70 million valuation.
Although Murillo is a promising talent, Chelsea’s priority is bolstering other positions. Young defender Alfie Gilchrist is set to go out on loan, and Chalobah seeks a move to a Champions League club.
