Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal are gearing up for their last Olympic Games in Paris this summer, but their participation comes with significant challenges.
Both legends, each with two Olympic gold medals, were not included among the 16 seeds for the tournament, setting the stage for potentially tough first-round matches.
Murray, who clinched gold in London 2012 and successfully defended his title in Rio 2016, and Nadal, who won the singles in Beijing 2008 and doubles in Rio 2016 with Marc Lopez, may face top players early on. Their lack of seeding could pit them against formidable opponents like Novak Djokovic right from the start.
Murray, currently ranked 121st, has struggled with injuries and form, winning only seven matches this year. Nadal, ranked 161st, has also battled injuries, recently showing some resurgence by reaching the final of the Bastad Open.
Despite these hurdles, both players are committed to making their final Olympic appearance memorable. Nadal will also compete in doubles with Carlos Alcaraz, aiming to leave a lasting legacy in Paris.
