Former Houston Rockets first-round pick Josh Christopher led the Miami Heat to a thrilling victory in the NBA 2K Summer League Championship, earning MVP honors.

The Heat triumphed over the Memphis Grizzlies in an intense game that concluded in overtime, with a final score of 120-118. Christopher played a pivotal role, scoring 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting, including an impressive 6-of-10 from three-point range. He also contributed with four rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.

Christopher’s journey to this moment has been marked by significant development. Drafted 24th overall by the Rockets in 2021, he initially struggled to secure consistent playing time under former coach Stephen Silas. This led him to spend considerable time with the Rockets’ G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, where he honed his skills, averaging 23.6 points per game.

In July 2023, Christopher was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies and later released. He continued his career with the Salt Lake City Stars and Sioux Falls Skyforce during the 2023-24 season. Now, with his standout Summer League performance, he awaits the Miami Heat’s decision on a potential two-way contract.

Christopher’s journey reflects his resilience and determination, showcasing his growth from a promising draft pick to a key player in the Summer League Championship. His performance has reignited interest in his potential to make a significant impact at the NBA level.
