Chelsea has reignited interest in 24 year old AC Milan winger Raphael Leao.

The Portuguese winger, who has been linked to Chelsea for several years, is reportedly a target for the London club’s officials. Chelsea is said to be considering a transfer for Leao at the end of the season, which is unsurprising given his reputation as one of Europe’s finest players at his peak.

Leao’s offensive skills would undoubtedly benefit Chelsea, especially with the potential departure of Raheem Sterling, according to Football Transfers. However, acquiring the Portugal international would pose a financial challenge for Chelsea, considering their recent spending in the transfer market.

Sources from France, as reported by GOAL, suggest that PSG is no longer pursuing Leao this summer, potentially leaving Chelsea with an opportunity to make a move for him. The winger’s contract includes a release clause of €175 million (approximately £150 million), a sum that any interested clubs would likely need to meet.

While PSG could afford the release clause, they are focusing on signing a new striker following Kylian Mbappe’s impending departure. Whether Chelsea would be willing to match the £150 million release clause remains unclear, but it’s likely they would need to sell several players to facilitate such a significant transfer.

Recent rumours has linked Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling with offers from Saudi Pro league clubs. Reports also suggest that the Club might sanction the departure of the 29 year old England international who earns a lucrative wage sum of £325k per week, making him the highest paid player in the team.

These reports claim the club hierarchy does not consider Sterling as part of the future and will likely try to replace him in the summer with Raphael Leao identified as a major target.
