The Boston Celtics have re-signed Jay Scrubb to an Exhibit 10 contract, marking his return after a year-long absence due to an ACL injury.

Scrubb, who initially impressed the Celtics during the Summer League, earned a two-way contract with the team last season. Unfortunately, his injury sidelined him for the entire season, leading to his release from the roster.

Despite this setback, Scrubb remained closely connected to the team, feeling like he was still part of the organization. His determination to return was fueled by the strong relationships he built during his time with the Celtics.

Scrubb’s NBA journey began when he was drafted by the Brooklyn Nets in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft. However, his professional debut came with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2021, where he played 22 games over two seasons. Scrubb also had a brief stint with the Orlando Magic during the 2022-23 season.

Even with Scrubb back in the fold, the Celtics still have one roster spot open for the upcoming season.

The futures of players like Oshae Brissett and Svi Mykhailiuk remain uncertain, with Brissett hinting that his time with Boston may be over. Nonetheless, the door for his return isn’t completely shut.

The Celtics’ offseason decisions, particularly regarding the final roster spot, remain a topic of interest as the new season approaches.
