As the new season approaches, AC Milan finds itself in a challenging position regarding their pursuit of Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana.

Despite having less than two weeks before the start of the season, Milan has yet to secure the defensive midfielder that coach Paulo Fonseca urgently requires.

According to Antonio Vitiello’s latest report for MilanNews, negotiations with Monaco have proven more difficult than expected, leading to a critical juncture where Milan’s management must decide whether to persist or move on to alternative targets.

Fofana has already agreed to personal terms with Milan, but the clubs have not reached a consensus after over a month of discussions. Monaco’s initial asking price of €35 million is a significant barrier, especially with Fofana’s contract set to expire in under a year. Milan’s directors are considering a strategy to wait until the final days of the transfer window, hoping that Monaco will lower their demands.

With just 25 days remaining in the transfer window, Milan must act swiftly to secure Fofana at a reasonable price before the season begins.
