The Denver Broncos are placing significant emphasis on securing a strong offensive line to ensure the success of their rookie quarterback, Bo Nix.
Already making a major move by extending guard Quinn Meinerz’s contract for $80 million over four years, the team still faces a crucial decision regarding All-Pro left tackle Garett Bolles.
Bolles, currently in the last year of his $68 million contract signed in 2020, is slated to earn $16 million in 2024. According to Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder, re-signing Bolles could be the most pivotal move for the Broncos as they aim to protect Nix in his early NFL years. Bolles has been a dependable asset for the team since being drafted in the first round in 2017, earning All-Pro honors in 2020 and demonstrating resilience by playing all 17 games in 2023 after recovering from a season-ending injury in 2022.
While the Broncos are in a rebuilding phase under head coach Sean Payton, with veterans like Justin Simmons released to clear cap space, Bolles remains too valuable to let go easily. If the Broncos struggle in the upcoming season, they might have the opportunity to draft a top-tier offensive tackle in 2025, such as LSU’s Will Campbell, who has been projected as a first-round pick.
However, securing Bolles for the foreseeable future could be critical for maintaining stability on the offensive line as they develop their young quarterback.
