Nottingham Forest is nearing the completion of a significant transfer, with the club expected to secure the services of a player they’ve pursued throughout the summer.
The breakthrough in negotiations has positioned Forest to finalize their squad just ahead of their Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Saturday. Under the guidance of head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, Forest has already bolstered their squad with six new additions this summer, and the imminent signing of a seventh player looks promising.
The club’s most recent acquisition was Jota Silva from Vitoria, and now it appears that another winger, Ramon Sosa, is set to join the ranks. According to John Percy, terms have been agreed upon, and Sosa is expected to undergo a medical later this week. The transfer, costing Forest around £11 million, comes after Talleres, his current club, was compelled to act following Sosa’s refusal to participate in their upcoming Copa Libertadores match.
Sosa, who impressed during the Copa America representing Paraguay, made 21 appearances in the 2023/24 season, scoring seven goals and providing six assists. However, despite his promising form, Sosa will face stiff competition for a starting spot at Forest, particularly with established players like Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga already in the mix. Nevertheless, his arrival, along with that of Silva, enhances Forest’s depth, providing more options for Espirito Santo as the season progresses.
While Sosa lacks European experience, his potential and versatility—he can also play through the middle—make him a valuable addition. It’s been a long negotiation process, but Sosa’s move to Forest finally appears to be on track, offering fans hope and excitement for the season ahead.
