The Cleveland Browns have been busy with roster adjustments as they gear up for joint practices with the Minnesota Vikings in preparation for their upcoming preseason game on Saturday.

Among the roster changes, the Browns decided to part ways with running back John Kelly Jr., whose bid for a spot on the team took a hit after he fumbled in the preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers.

However, Kelly didn’t remain a free agent for long, as the Baltimore Ravens quickly signed him. The Ravens are in need of additional running back depth, particularly with rookie Rasheen Ali sidelined after suffering a stinger in Baltimore’s preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kelly, a six-year NFL veteran, spent the last three seasons primarily on the Browns’ practice squad and appeared in five games for Cleveland. His last regular-season carry came in 2021 during a win over the Denver Broncos.

Initially drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Kelly has played in 13 games throughout his career, amassing 96 rushing yards and 27 receiving yards.

As for the Browns, they had a day off but will return to the field for joint practices against the Vikings.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski mentioned that quarterback Deshaun Watson will take most of the reps in practice but will sit out the actual game on Saturday. The Browns and Vikings will face each other at Cleveland Browns Stadium at 4:25 p.m. on Saturday.
