Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas has voiced his skepticism about the Boston Celtics’ performance in the 2024 NBA Finals, despite their victory.

Speaking on “The OGs” podcast with Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem, Arenas claimed that while the Celtics were undoubtedly the superior team against the Dallas Mavericks, their play didn’t reach the level of championship basketball.

The Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, dominated the regular season with a league-best 64 wins and cruised through the Eastern Conference playoffs. They eventually defeated the Mavericks, who had surprised many by reaching the Finals as underdogs, in just five games to secure a record 18th NBA title.

However, Arenas argued that the Celtics’ victory was more about their roster’s depth and talent rather than a display of true championship-level play. Despite his critical assessment, the Celtics are the reigning champions and could be on the brink of a new era of dominance if they maintain their current form.
