Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper leaves practice early due to an injury sustained during drills against the Minnesota Vikings
Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper left Thursday’s joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings prematurely after suffering an injury.
The specifics of the injury remain unclear, but head coach Kevin Stefanski indicated that Cooper was “sore.” The incident occurred during a routine play where Cooper caught a short pass from quarterback Deshaun Watson. After making a cut on the grass, Cooper was heard yelling and, despite remaining on the field for a few more plays, eventually walked off accompanied by a trainer.
Cooper, who is 30 years old, is a vital component of the Browns’ offense. Last season, he recorded 72 receptions for 1,250 yards and has been a consistent performer since joining the team. Over his two seasons with the Browns, he has amassed 150 catches, totaling 2,410 yards and 14 touchdowns.
In addition to Cooper, defensive tackle Maurice Hurst also left the practice early with what appeared to be a leg injury, though no further updates were provided by Stefanski.
On a related note, rookie Mike Hall Jr. was not in pads after suffering a stinger during Wednesday’s drills. Hall, who was recently charged with domestic violence, is expected to return to court on September 10. Stefanski mentioned that Hall’s injury could potentially keep him sidelined for some time.
