Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell has expressed concern over the competition for the final wide receiver spots on the roster.

With the Lions’ preseason performance so far, Campbell has called for someone to step up, particularly in the upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs. If no one asserts themselves, it could push the Lions toward exploring trade options for a new wide receiver.

One name that has surfaced as a potential trade target is Washington Commanders’ Jahan Dotson.

Despite being drafted 16th overall in 2022, Dotson’s performance has been underwhelming, with only marginal improvements last season. He’s now caught in a position battle under a new coaching regime.

Head coach Dan Quinn of the Commanders highlighted the ongoing competition for the WR2 spot, mentioning that Dotson is among several players fighting for the position. Dotson himself acknowledged the need to prove his worth every year, especially with a new coach who didn’t draft him.

Given Dotson’s potential availability, Detroit might consider adding him to their receiving corps if the current players don’t step up. Dotson’s profile—similar to Lions’ receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Kalif Raymond—could make him a valuable asset if a trade materializes.
