James Patterson’s new book offers an in-depth look into the early relationship between golf legend Tiger Woods and his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, shedding light on the awkwardness of Woods’ attempts to court her.
The book reveals that Woods, who met Nordegren in 2001 when she was working as an au pair for fellow golfer Jesper Parnevik, was immediately attracted to the Swedish beauty. However, rather than approaching her directly, the then 25-year-old Woods had someone from his team ask her out on his behalf.
This unconventional method of wooing left Nordegren unimpressed, highlighting Woods’ reliance on others for even the most personal of matters.
Despite this less-than-stellar start and the fact that Nordegren had a boyfriend in Sweden, the two eventually began dating, leading to their marriage in 2004.
During their relationship, Woods was ascending to unprecedented heights in his golfing career, ultimately securing 15 major titles, second only to Jack Nicklaus. However, their marriage famously unraveled in 2010 amid scandals of Woods’ infidelity.
Patterson’s book, “Tiger, Tiger: His Life, As It’s Never Been Told Before,” released on July 15, 2024, has quickly become a bestseller, offering fans a glimpse into the personal struggles that accompanied Woods’ meteoric rise in the sports world.
