As Alabama football enters a new chapter without longtime head coach Nick Saban, the team’s new leader, Kalen DeBoer, is set to take the reins in their upcoming Week 1 game against Western Kentucky on Saturday, August 31.

This matchup will mark DeBoer’s debut on the sidelines as Alabama’s head coach, ushering in a new era for the Crimson Tide. Known for his success at previous coaching stops, DeBoer aims to start his tenure at Alabama with a win.

Though the Crimson Tide are heavily favored against the Hilltoppers, DeBoer stressed the importance of having a fully healthy roster.

In a recent update provided by ESPN’s Chris Low, DeBoer shared optimistic news regarding the availability of two key offensive players: offensive lineman Jaeden Roberts and running back Jam Miller. Both players, who had been dealing with injuries, are expected to return to practice and be ready to contribute on game day.

The odds are in Alabama’s favor, with a 31.5-point spread and a 97.4% chance of victory, according to ESPN. As DeBoer prepares to lead Alabama into this new era, all eyes will be on how the team performs under his guidance in his first game as head coach.
