Xavier Griffin, the top-ranked linebacker in the nation, has confirmed his plans to return to Alabama for their game against Georgia on September 28th, marking his third visit to the Tuscaloosa campus this year.
Griffin, a standout from Gainesville, Georgia, received an offer from Alabama in late January and attended a spring practice in March. Reflecting on his experiences, Griffin shared his excitement about the offer and revealed his deep-rooted connection to Alabama, having grown up in the state and being a lifelong fan of the Crimson Tide.
In June, Griffin made a multi-day visit to Alabama and had initially planned to attend the Champions Cook-Out event, although he ultimately did not make that trip. Instead, Griffin made an unofficial visit to USC in late July, during which he committed to the Trojans, a decision that came as a surprise to some, considering his strong ties to Alabama.
Despite his commitment, Griffin’s recruitment is far from over. Schools across the country, including Alabama, remain determined to sway him from his USC pledge.
Griffin’s mother, Jay Clay, who also has deep Alabama roots, discussed her son’s recruitment and his current commitment status with USC in an interview with Bama247, indicating that the process is still very much ongoing.
