The Detroit Lions began their 2024 NFL season with an exciting 26-20 overtime win against the Los Angeles Rams in a rematch of last year’s Divisional Round game.
As they prepare for their Week 2 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, another team they overcame in the playoffs, the Lions made several roster moves to strengthen their lineup.
On Wednesday, the Lions announced the signing of defensive lineman Kyle Peko to their active roster. Peko, a 31-year-old veteran, played 13 games with the Tennessee Titans last season and recorded 22 tackles. He contributed one tackle in the Lions’ opening game against the Rams.
Additionally, the team added kicker Greg Joseph and defensive lineman Chris Smith to their practice squad.
Joseph, who spent the last three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, has an 82.6% career field goal completion rate, though he struggled on kicks beyond 40 yards last year. Meanwhile, Smith, an undrafted free agent from Notre Dame, was briefly waived after the Rams game before being re-signed to the practice squad.
These moves aim to bolster the Lions’ depth as they continue their playoff ambitions.
