The Denver Nuggets, despite being just over a year removed from winning an NBA championship, have encountered several offseason issues.

Much of the media attention has focused on the team’s lack of veteran presence, potential financial constraints, concerns over shooting, and the upcoming contract situations involving key players like Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, and Michael Porter Jr. Another concern, however, has flown under the radar: the lack of size and depth in their frontcourt, as pointed out by ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

With DaRon Holmes sidelined for the season due to a torn Achilles, the Nuggets are now left thin in the frontcourt. While Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon are still the team’s pillars, both logged heavy minutes last season and appeared fatigued during the playoffs.

Although the team signed Dario Saric, his age and recovery from injury raise questions about his ability to contribute. Beyond that, the roster only features Zeke Nnaji and DeAndre Jordan as additional big men, neither of whom may be reliable rotation players at this stage of their careers.

Zach Lowe of ESPN suggested one potential solution: shifting Michael Porter Jr. to power forward.

This could enhance offensive spacing, but it might leave the team vulnerable defensively, as Porter would need to bulk up and improve his interior game. While the Nuggets will likely have to experiment with this lineup, they must also figure out how to address their shooting and size issues to avoid serious trouble this season.
