LSU head football coach Brian Kelly has faced mounting pressure after a tough start to the 2024 season.

Following the Tigers’ 27-20 loss to the No. 23 USC Trojans in their season opener, Kelly’s frustration was clear. Despite a solid 44-21 win against Nicholls State in Week 2, LSU fans remain unconvinced. As the team prepares for their Week 3 clash against the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia, the stakes are high, especially with “College GameDay” in town.

College football analyst Paul Finebaum weighed in on Kelly’s situation, saying that a loss this week could spell trouble for the coach.

Finebaum emphasized that LSU fans are passionate but quick to question leadership when results falter.

“A loss would be shattering. By mid-September, having two defeats would be tough to handle,” Finebaum said during “Always College Football.”

He noted that LSU’s struggles might stem from the absence of Heisman-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels and key injuries, including running back John Emory.

The No. 16 Tigers face a pivotal moment on Saturday, September 14, with a noon kickoff against South Carolina on ABC. Finebaum’s warning looms large for Kelly, who needs to secure a win to quiet growing doubts among the fanbase.
