The Notre Dame football team is bracing for a significant challenge as they prepare to face Georgia Tech this weekend, particularly in light of the absence of some key defensive players.

Benjamin Morrison, a pivotal member of the defense, will not be participating in this game or for the remainder of the season. His absence adds to the difficulties already faced by the Irish, as head coach Marcus Freeman recently announced that another defensive lineman will also miss the match against the Yellow Jackets.

This loss is compounded by the fact that Boubacar Troure is already sidelined, which puts additional strain on the team’s defensive strategy. Moreover, lineman Jason Onye will miss his second consecutive game due to unspecified personal matters, leaving the Irish with a thinner defensive line.

Despite limited playing time this season, Onye has made an impact with 7 tackles and 1.5 sacks. His performances had shown promise, particularly in the recent rout against Purdue, where he recorded four pressures and his only sacks of the season.

Fortunately, there is some good news for Notre Dame; Gabriel Rubio, another defensive lineman, returned last week and had a notable impact on the field.

Coaches are hopeful that Rubio’s presence will help compensate for Onye’s absence as the team looks to secure a vital victory against Georgia Tech.
