Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer announced a significant setback for the team, revealing that freshman wide receiver Cole Adams will miss the remainder of the season due to a leg injury sustained in the recent game against Missouri.
This news strikes a blow to the Crimson Tide’s offense, which has performed well this season under quarterback Jalen Milroe but has faced inconsistencies.
DeBoer praised Adams for his dedication and resilience, particularly in light of previous challenges the young receiver had faced earlier this year.
“He’s a guy that pours everything into it,” DeBoer told Alabama beat writer Nick Kelly. He added, “He had an [arm] injury earlier in the season. Just seeing the effort he put into that first injury, you really found out a lot about who he was as a person, as a player. Just a toughness he had. Unfortunately, he had another injury here now.”
Adams had started to make a notable impact, especially during his best game against South Carolina, where he tallied 57 receiving yards and contributed effectively on special teams.
Despite this setback, Alabama remains in contention for the College Football Playoff, ranked eleventh in the AP Poll. A crucial matchup against LSU on November 9 stands as a potential gateway to the playoffs, with the winner likely securing a prime spot in the new twelve-team format.
Following LSU, Alabama’s schedule lightens, offering a clearer path toward playoff aspirations, yet Saturday’s game will play a decisive role in defining their season.
