The Alabama Crimson Tide has made a significant move in its recruiting efforts, successfully flipping four-star defensive back Ivan Taylor from the Michigan Wolverines.

Announced Monday night, Taylor’s decision is seen as a pivotal gain for Alabama as it strengthens its 2025 recruiting class, currently ranked third nationally by 247Sports.

Taylor, the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers star and two-time Super Bowl champion Ike Taylor, brings NFL bloodlines and a reputation for being a versatile and high-IQ safety.

Taylor, who plays for West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida, is ranked as the state’s fifth-best prospect by 247Sports. Known for his sound tackling and ability to thrive in a two-deep safety system, he has drawn comparisons to Tampa Bay Buccaneers standout Antoine Winfield Jr. Recruiting experts, including Andrew Ivins, have praised Taylor as a top prospect with immediate potential to contribute, especially with Alabama losing key seniors in its secondary.

Taylor’s commitment adds to Alabama’s recent recruiting wins, which include four-star tight end Marshall Pritchett. He also joins five-star corner Dijon Lee and four-star Chuck McDonald in shaping the Crimson Tide’s formidable 2025 defensive class.
