Despite the Kansas City Chiefs holding the NFL’s best record, Shannon Sharpe believes another team deserves the title of the AFC’s best: the Pittsburgh Steelers.

During a recent episode of First Take, Sharpe boldly stated:

“I think the Pittsburgh Steelers are the best team in the AFC. ” His comment sparked a lively debate with co-host Stephen A. Smith, who responded, “You got to be crazy for saying something like that.”

The Steelers’ 2024 season has been marked by ups and downs. Initially relying on Justin Fields as their quarterback, inconsistent offensive performances prompted a shift to veteran Russell Wilson.

This decision has since stabilized the team, with Wilson leading them to a critical Week 11 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. The win, fueled by a gritty defensive effort and a balanced offensive showing that included 122 rushing yards, brought their record to an impressive 8-2.

Sharpe credited the Steelers’ disciplined coaching under Mike Tomlin, their defensive resilience, and the effectiveness of their quarterback duo as key factors in their success. He noted their ability to execute critical plays, positioning them as serious playoff contenders.

While the Chiefs and Buffalo Bills remain formidable opponents, Sharpe’s declaration highlights the Steelers’ potential to surprise as the season progresses.
