The Atlanta Braves are poised to make substantial roster changes ahead of spring training 2025.While some decisions are evident, others may come as surprises as the team seeks improvement.

The Braves began 2024 with high hopes after their historic 2023 lineup and a reinforced rotation featuring Chris Sale and Reynaldo Lopez. However, injuries to stars like Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuña Jr., coupled with postseason struggles, dashed their World Series aspirations.

A disappointing NL Wild Card exit against the Padres highlighted offensive inconsistencies, prompting the team to part ways with hitting coach Kevin Seltzer.

General Manager Alex Anthopoulos has already started reshaping the roster, parting with Jorge Soler and Travis d’Arnaud—key contributors to their 2021 championship.

Outfielder Ramon Laureano, despite a strong finish to the season, will likely continue his career elsewhere. Adam Duvall, whose underwhelming .184 batting average reflected his struggles, is another likely departure.

Orlando Arcia’s regression has become a critical issue. A 2023 All-Star, Arcia posted just 0.6 WAR and a .621 OPS in 2024. The Braves are reportedly eyeing Willy Adames, a free agent who could provide much-needed offensive consistency, even if slightly less reliable defensively.

With further moves anticipated, the Braves aim to rebuild a championship-caliber roster for the 2025 season. Anthopoulos remains at the helm of this critical transition.
