The Pittsburgh Steelers’ struggles continued with a third consecutive loss, falling 29-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs in front of 67,311 fans at Acrisure Stadium on Christmas Day.

The defeat added pressure on veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, whose performance—205 passing yards, one interception, and a rushing touchdown—was deemed inefficient. During the three-game skid, Wilson has thrown three touchdowns against two interceptions, raising questions about his role.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged the need for change, stating:

“The bottom line is junior varsity is not good enough. We’ve got to own that. But we’ve also got to look at what it is we need to do differently. We’re not going to continue to do the same things and hope for a different result.” Tomlin highlighted turnovers as a critical issue, saying, “We’re turning the ball over. We’re not getting turnovers. Minus-2 in this game, you’re not giving yourself a chance, particularly turning the ball over in the red zone.”

Calls for backup quarterback Justin Fields to return have intensified among fans. Fields, who led the team to a 4-2 record earlier in the season before being benched for Wilson, was sidelined on Wednesday with an abdominal injury. Fans argue that Fields’ early success in the AFC North and his potential to reignite the offense make him the better option for the playoffs.

Wilson, who replaced Fields in Week 7, is now under scrutiny as Pittsburgh evaluates changes before its postseason push.
