AC Milan are reportedly contemplating the sale of midfielder Ismael Bennacer, with interest from several Saudi Arabian clubs, including Al-Hilal, to finance their transfer ambitions.
Recent reports from Sportitalia and Calciomercato.com reveal that a meeting was held with Bennacer’s representatives to explore potential deals.
The 26-year-old Algerian international, once a pivotal player for Milan, saw his season hampered by a severe knee injury, limiting him to just 25 appearances. Despite this setback, Milan aims to secure around €50 million, matching his release clause, to bolster their squad.
The funds from Bennacer’s sale are expected to target acquiring a new striker to succeed Olivier Giroud. Among the leading candidates is Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, who has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Milan. However, the negotiations face hurdles over a €15 million commission demanded by Zirkzee’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, which Milan currently refuses to meet.
This financial impasse leaves the door open for other clubs, such as Manchester United and Arsenal, to swoop in for the young forward.
Milan’s transfer strategy hinges on resolving these negotiations, making Bennacer’s potential departure a critical component in reshaping the team for the upcoming season.
The outcome of these talks will likely play a pivotal role in determining Milan’s competitive edge in the next campaign.
