Courtney Morgan, the general manager of Alabama football, has secured a groundbreaking contract with the Crimson Tide after a summer overture from USC, as confirmed by ESPN on Monday night.

This new three-year agreement will see Morgan earning an average of $825,000 per year, establishing him as the highest-paid front office executive in college football. The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees gave the green light to the deal on Monday, though insiders revealed that the terms had been in place for some time.

Morgan’s rising prominence in college football’s administrative ranks is underscored by his crucial role in Washington’s 2024 national runner-up finish.

His success has made him one of the most sought-after figures in the sport’s evolving front office landscape. He transitioned to Alabama alongside head coach Kalen DeBoer earlier this year, following two successful seasons at Washington.

Morgan has played a pivotal role in shaping Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class, which currently ranks second nationally according to ESPN.

USC’s attempt to lure Morgan to Southern California this summer prompted DeBoer to act swiftly, ensuring Morgan’s continued presence in Tuscaloosa with this record-setting extension. Morgan’s original contract with Alabama, finalized in February, provided an annual base salary of $500,000.

The enhanced terms of his new deal reflect the growing investment in football’s front office personnel, mirroring similar moves across the country, such as Texas Tech’s recent extension of GM James Blanchard, who now earns $800,000 over two years.
