On Saturday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide faced its biggest challenge, not from the South Florida Bulls, but from within.

The game highlighted a common truth in college football: it’s hard to beat an opponent when you’re defeating yourself. Despite South Florida’s valiant effort, their talent level pales compared to Alabama’s. Yet, for much of the game, Alabama struggled, trailing 14-13 going into the fourth quarter.

Coach Kalen DeBoer acknowledged the tough game, noting, “You need games like this,” though fans likely disagree. While such struggles might be acceptable against a team like USF, they could spell disaster against stronger opponents.

The game also exposed several concerning statistics: Alabama committed 13 penalties, allowed four sacks, and turned the ball over three times. The most alarming stat was their rushing performance, with only 57 yards on the ground before the fourth quarter.

DeBoer, however, remains optimistic, stating that the team’s perseverance will eventually yield positive results. With adjustments, especially on the offensive line, Alabama can bounce back, though fans hope these improvements come sooner rather than later.
