Alabama is starting the week as an unusual home underdog to Georgia in Saturday’s SEC clash in Tuscaloosa.

As of Monday, sportsbooks widely had Alabama as 2-point underdogs, though the odds are moving in favor of the Crimson Tide.

Historically, Alabama has been the favorite in 90 consecutive home games, a streak that began in 2007 against LSU. They have also not been underdogs in a regular-season matchup since 2015, which was also against Georgia. These two streaks are poised to break this week unless there is significant movement in the betting lines.

Initially, in the summer, Georgia was favored by 4.5 points, as oddsmakers factored in Alabama’s potential drop-off after head coach Nick Saban’s departure. However, bookmakers now view Alabama as the more impressive team this season.

Veteran oddsmaker Chris Andrews, from South Point in Las Vegas, initially had Georgia favored by 4.5 points but noted that Alabama has shown more promise. He remarked that while Georgia remains strong, they haven’t reached the same level as last year.

On Monday, sportsbooks like ESPN BET listed Georgia at -1.5, with FanDuel and BetMGM at -2.5.
