Alabama football’s wide receiver group continues to experience turnover heading into the 2025 season.
Jaren Hamilton announced on social media Wednesday that he will enter the transfer portal, marking the latest departure from the Crimson Tide roster.
Hamilton, a redshirt freshman, was part of Alabama’s 2023 recruiting class. While he appeared in four games this season, including the ReliaQuest Bowl loss to Michigan, he did not record any receptions. Similarly, he went without a catch during two games played in 2023, preserving his redshirt status throughout his time with the team.
During Tuesday’s 19-13 bowl defeat, Alabama had only five scholarship wide receivers available, including Hamilton. Injuries and earlier transfer portal departures significantly depleted the position group. Ryan Williams, Germie Bernard, Rico Scott, and cornerback-turned-receiver Jaylen Mbakwe joined Hamilton as active options in the game.
Before the bowl, four other receivers—Kobe Prentice, Kendrick Law, Caleb Odom, and Emmanuel Henderson—opted to transfer. The Tide’s offensive struggles and early turnovers capped Kalen DeBoer’s first season as head coach at a 9-3 record.
Hamilton, a four-star recruit from Gainesville, Florida, originally chose Alabama over notable programs like Florida, Michigan, and Tennessee. The transfer portal remains open for five days after the season’s conclusion.
