The Alabama Crimson Tide received an early Christmas gift as 4-star in-state cornerback Zyan Gibson announced his commitment to the team on December 24.

This commitment bolsters Alabama’s 2026 recruiting class after the earlier departure of defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland, also an in-state prospect. Gibson, a standout from Gadsden, Alabama, solidifies the Tide’s focus on keeping top local talent.

Gibson revealed his decision in a festive social media livestream, donning an Alabama cap amid cheers from family and friends. His announcement included Alabama-themed decorations, symbolizing his excitement to join the program. With offers from over 15 Division I schools, Gibson ultimately chose Alabama over Auburn, Tennessee, and Miami.

Ranked as the No. 7 cornerback nationally and seventh overall prospect in Alabama by 247Sports Composite, his commitment highlights his elite status.

A versatile athlete, Gibson excelled as both a cornerback and wide receiver in high school. As a sophomore, the 5’11”, 177-pound prospect recorded 17 tackles, a tackle-for-loss, and a fumble recovery in limited defensive appearances. On offense, he contributed four receptions for 97 yards and two touchdowns this season.

Gibson’s addition strengthens Alabama’s defensive backfield and could potentially enhance its wide receiver corps when he arrives in 2026. His decision underscores Alabama’s continued dominance in recruiting top-tier talent.
