In a deeply emotional moment at the Olympics, Carlos Alcaraz struggled to hold back tears after losing the men’s singles gold medal match to Novak Djokovic.

The 21-year-old tennis sensation, who recently triumphed at Wimbledon and the French Open, faced a tough defeat with Djokovic claiming victory in straight sets, 7-6(3) 7-6(2). This win allowed Djokovic to complete his impressive collection of tennis accolades, avenging his loss at Wimbledon just three weeks prior.

The weight of the loss was visibly heavy on Alcaraz as he tried to express his feelings in a post-match interview with fellow Spaniard Alex Corretja. Overwhelmed by emotion, Alcaraz had to pause the interview, struggling to speak through his tears.

Corretja offered comfort, allowing Alcaraz time to compose himself before he could continue. The match and its aftermath clearly highlighted the intense emotions both players felt, marking a significant moment in the 2024 Olympic Games.
