Andy Murray, in an exclusive interview at Wimbledon, has shared crucial insights on what Emma Raducanu needs to do to clinch her second Grand Slam title by 2025.

Raducanu, who secured a place in the second round of Wimbledon after defeating Renata Zarazua, won her first major at the US Open in 2021. However, she has struggled with form and fitness, spending much of 2023 sidelined by injuries requiring three surgeries.

Currently ranked world No. 135, Raducanu is on the mend and has shown promising performances this year, including a semi-final appearance in Nottingham and a quarter-final run in Eastbourne. Notably, she recorded her first win against a top-10 player, defeating world No. 5 Jessica Pegula.

Murray, a seasoned tennis professional who has expressed interest in coaching after retiring, highlighted two essential factors for Raducanu’s success.

First, she must remain injury-free, and second, she needs to consistently advance deep into tournaments to maintain her match fitness throughout the year.

“Emma has shown she can compete with the best, as evidenced by her win against Pegula,” Murray said. “Her upcoming matches will be tough, but if she stays healthy and continues to build her fitness, she has a good chance in 2025.”

Murray’s admiration for Raducanu extends to other young British talents. He praised Jack Draper, who recently defeated Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz at Queen’s Club, and Charlie Robertson, a promising 17-year-old from Dundee.

Murray’s mentorship and support suggest a bright future for British tennis as he transitions to a potential coaching role.

As Raducanu targets a strong run at her home Grand Slam, Wimbledon 2024, her journey underscores the importance of resilience and consistent performance in achieving long-term success in the sport.
