Arsenal has reportedly initiated contact with Everton regarding a potential transfer of their highly valued midfielder, Amadou Onana.

Everton may need to part with Onana this summer to alleviate financial strains, positioning the 22-year-old as a prime target for several top clubs across Europe, including Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Everton’s financial woes have made Onana a valuable asset that could be sold to raise much-needed funds.

The midfielder’s performance under Sean Dyche has been impressive, showcasing his defensive capabilities in a deep-lying role.

Onana’s potential transfer is seen as strategic for Arsenal, especially with the anticipated departure of Thomas Partey and the advancing age of Jorginho.

Onana’s youth and talent make him an ideal candidate to bolster Arsenal’s midfield, allowing stars like Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard to thrive in more advanced positions.

Onana’s international experience with Belgium further elevates his profile. He has become a key player for his national team and is expected to be instrumental at the upcoming European Championships in Germany. His presence in such a high-profile tournament could spark a bidding war among interested clubs.

Fabrizio Romano update on Arsenal interest.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated that while Arsenal has shown interest, formal negotiations with Everton are yet to commence.

Everton values Onana at £50m and could be open to sell this summer.

Romano mentioned, “They had some contact, yes, in terms of being informed on the player’s situation, but it’s not the proper negotiation to the club yet. I think Arsenal has several names on that list for the midfield.”

Onana’s debut season in England saw significant growth, with the player featuring in 37 matches and scoring three goals. His defensive positioning and impact helped Everton achieve structural stability, conceding the fourth-least goals in the league. Additionally, his speed—clocked at 36.65 km/h, the seventh-fastest in the league—highlights his physical prowess.

Ranking among the elite for tackles and aerial duels, Onana has demonstrated his potential to develop into a top-tier midfielder.

While his departure would be a significant blow for Everton, finding a comparable replacement might be more manageable than replacing other key players like Jarrad Branthwaite.

As the transfer window progresses, the football world will be closely watching how negotiations unfold and whether Arsenal can secure Onana to enhance their squad for the upcoming season.
